I’m a former tenured law academic, with experience in admissions and examinations. I've taught for years at world-class law schools in the UK and Australia, and published interdisciplinary work with leading university presses. My former students have completed PhD dissertations successfully; secured internships at the United Nations and other international organisations, and launched successful careers in competitive fields.
I now provide an exclusive service to help students around the world achieve their goals through free downloadable writing guides and audio guides. You can also have exclusive one-off, clustered or ongoing online tutoring sessions. I am available to help students and academics, in the UK and overseas.
The aim is not for me to research or write your papers for you (which won't help you once you enter the workforce!), but to equip you with the very best skills and strategy to achieve your goals. I will coach you through focused intervention, explanation and feedback to get you working at a higher level.
With the best care and advice, you can set aside any confusion about how to progress through your university career. You can have tuition in the comfort of your own home, at times that are convenient for you. You’ll receive helpful appointment reminders, and a summary email of what we covered during the session. You can be assured of complete confidentiality.
Email me your requirements, and together we can discuss the best way for me to give you support, at set rates. I am often booked for weeks in advance, so click here to get in touch early!
Testimonials
Dr Otomo taught me Global Commodities Law at SOAS. I loved her classes because they were highly stimulating and rich in substance, and I always admired how each lecture was meticulously prepared for - she is certainly a brilliant, dedicated educator. Yoriko is also an excellent supervisor because she is personally attentive, encourages creative, independent thought while providing generous guidance. She is very approachable, kind, and has genuine care for her students. I have benefited greatly from her teaching and support, as I am certain many others will. –Thessa
I had a very tough first year in the LLB. Despite being a high-achieving student back home, in the UK I did not know where to start with my essays, and how to prepare for exams. I started missing deadlines, and this dragged me into depression and anxiety. It was then that a friend introduced me to Yoriko. Her tuition started building my confidence, and slowly but surely I found my marks improving. My university life, as well as life in London generally, improved greatly. To be honest, without Yoriko’s guidance I might have had difficulty in graduating. Since then, I have gone on to do an LLM and graduated with a Distinction. -Khaled
Yoriko is the best teacher I have ever had and has continued to be a mentor in my life, even long after my graduation from university. She has a unique way of teaching and being with her students that makes everyone feel comfortable to voice their opinion. There is no one else I would recommend more strongly. -Otto
I can honestly say that those courses I studied with Dr Otomo were amongst the most enjoyable of my Bachelors...she was able to condense often difficult theories into concepts that were easy to digest, and she went above and beyond to assist us while we worked on our research essays. Dr Otomo sparked an interest in these topics, fusing critical theory with real-world concerns, that lasted with me long after University. -Abraham
